Describe the shutdown error. Do you get a Blue Screen Of Death? Or does the system just shut off? anything you can tell us about the error will help.
Also, check to make sure your hardware is compatible, and if not, check tech forums to see if anyone else has found an issue. For instance, this is what I did.
I got a BSOD every time I plugged in or disconnected a USB device of ANY kind, ejected my disc tray, or sometimes when I opened up any media player. The error at the top of the screen read
DRIVER_IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL
First I looked at what THAT meant, and they said to look for the driver that was messed up, so, at my next BSOD, I looked at the bottom of the screen, and sure enough, it had a driver.
nvgts.sys
Then I put THAT into google, and looked at several solutions. It was a compatibility issue with my hard drive and video card. I had to download some STUPID freakin' drivers for my software that were completely unrelated to my hardware problems...buuut, the forums said do it, and since then, no problems whatsoever.
So, first try and isolate what the issue is. Are there programs that you're running that trigger the shutdown? Is your power source shorting? Are there any error messages? Once you isolate the problem, explain it to us, and we'll see if our combined knowledge can fix it, but don't be afraid to just google your problem.
Good luck Carmine!

lol@ NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE.
Anyways, back to the topic at hand, is there any major changes you made recently to your Registry? If you were dinkering around it there, it could cause quite a few problems, lol.
Like Hito said, is your PSU (Power Supply Unit) going bad? If your PSU gets too out of wack, it'll take your PC with it. I suggest taking your PC to someone who knows their stuff tech-wise and let em have a look at it. Most companies won't charge you to look at it.

Good powersupplyunits won't take everything with them... unfotunatly the big three (Dell, Gateway Compaq/HP) all use cheap power supplys this program here www.iobit.com/advancedwindowscareper.html has alot of good features including a registry fix/cleaner and this one here www.iobit.com/iobitsmartdefrag.htmlis a great defrag tool... much better than the one that come with windows. could be several things i could think of... coiuld be that your CPU is overheating and causing a shutdown, could be PSU phasing out, could be that your hard drive needs to be reformatted and reinstalled. all fairly dependant on how it's shutting down/crashing, what's going on when it happens, and how often... the variables of it all and such but i myself would start with software solutions since they will be easiest to figure out, run advanced windows care and smart defrag and see if that helps

Well it might be my PSU, which im starting to think it is. Imma download the program Kowro gave me and try that and see what comes up.
Well, programs.... lets see... It is more likely to crash when i have a game up like JA then having only browsers and music players and other things among those lines.. I get no warning what-so-ever, it just crashes, and turns on like nothing has happened. It most likely shuts off about everday at least once. But really, i could be in JA messing around or in a dual, and off it goes, not a single clue that its going off.
And I will try to see if my PSU is going bad. um sorry im not really good at explaining this stuff. but yeah, thank you all sooooo much for the tips and help. I really hope that i get this fixed.

so it just shuts off? no blue screen? no error?
well... i would probably say then that it could be a psu... but lets look at soemthign else... since it happens when you are in game (putting load on cpu none the less) heat.
could be that your cooling fins on your cpu heatsink are plugged and thus causing a overheat
may want to try a program called 'speedfan' you sholuld be able to find it by googleing it.
if you try that tell me what the temps are running and i can tell you if it seems high

well if you know where you got it from maybe you can post a link because your version must be differant than mine cuz mine don't measure core temp... and i wanted to see if it was accurate before i say anything more lol

lol i wouold have googled it myself but i was unsure which one you used okay... well it would seem to me that YOUR CPU IS HOT OMG IT'S ON FIRE GET THE EXTINGUISHER HURRY HURRY most computers are preset to shut down at a temp of 60*C i have the amd x2 6800+ and i'm running at 15*C on my core at idle, granted though i have a very big and good aftermarket cooler. my suggestion would be to get a can of that dust remover canned air stuff (make sure it's computer capable... i know it seems like canned air is canned air, but the computer capable ones i believe dont' leave a residue or something... i'm not certain) and open the side of your pc up (preferably when it's been off for a while so it's cool in side) and you'll see the cpu heatsink, should be an aluminum coil thing witha fan on top of it, my guess would be that it's clogged with dust, so blow it out to clean it out, while your at it if you see anything else similarly filled with dust clean those out too lol. remembe to keep the can as upright as possible as otherwise you'll end up spraying what they usually concider 'a freezing and extremally flambable liquid' lol... i woiuldn't worry if you get a little bit of it... but just try and keep it as upright as you can. my bet would be you'll do that, see alot cooler tempature and your pc will stop shutting itself off.

Well before you do any hardware changing check if your motherboard is loose. Like the motherboard hitches are loose. Open up your case and grab your motherboard and wiggle it gently, if you get a lot of shake and movement, that might be the problem. Get another screw and lock it place.
Cause it shuts down because its like trying to run on horseback.
Swapping out hardware should be your last option, if there was something wrong, do a system recovery to a date before it started happening. That usually fixes all problems.
I've run into these kinds of problems before and those 2 usually worked, some cases there had to be a PSU switch. I'm getting IC3 certified in Computer Basic Knowledge and Repair, so ask me if you still have questions Carmine.

the tempature readings indicate issues with the cooling system, i wouldn't suggest hardware swapping yet either... but i would suggest cleaning the cpu heatsink and fan, and my bloated post before had stated.

Well I finaly got a can, did as told. I left JA on for a few, alas with speedfan, and it's temp was low. I closed JA 4 a few, just about started gmod, temp was like 40 orless, and it crashed... So I guess that didn't work eh?
